Nvidia Eyes AI Companies Founded By Greek Scientists

by · Greek City Times

A US artificial intelligence company co-founded by Greek scientist Ioannis Antonoglou has attracted interest from Nvidia, highlighting the growing influence of Greek entrepreneurs in the global AI industry. Reflection AI has reached a reported valuation of $25 billion, while Nvidia is discussing a possible acquisition or further investment in the company, according to the Financial Times.

The talks remain at an early stage, with no final agreement in place. Nvidia has already invested approximately $800 million in Reflection AI. The options under consideration reportedly include an acquisition, additional funding or the purchase of technology and talent.Reflection AI is among several companies founded by Greek entrepreneurs that participate in the Endeavor network and operate at the forefront of artificial intelligence. Other notable founders include Anastasios Germanidis of Runway, Anastasios Angelopoulos of Arena, Spyros Xanthos of Resolve AI and Niki Goulimis of Tunic Pay.Their companies develop technologies spanning advanced AI models, video generation, software infrastructure automation and banking fraud prevention, with applications across business and everyday life.Reflection AI: The $25 Billion AI Company Attracting Nvidia

Ioannis Antonoglou, co-founder and chief technology officer of Reflection AI, has an extensive background in artificial intelligence. He previously worked at Google DeepMind, where he contributed to the development of advanced AI systems.Founded in 2024 by Antonoglou and Misha Laskin, Reflection AI develops large AI models designed to help businesses and organisations deploy and customise the technology for their own needs. In practical terms, the company develops technology that can power intelligent digital assistants and other AI applications. Businesses can use these models to analyse information, answer complex questions and help software developers write and debug code.Reflection AI designs its models to allow companies to install and customise them within their own systems, giving organisations greater control over their technology and data.In October 2026, Reflection AI introduced Beam, its first open-parameter model, as it seeks to compete with leading AI systems, particularly in software development and complex problem-solving. Endeavor’s figures put the company’s valuation at $25 billion.Runway: The Greek Entrepreneur Behind AI-Generated Video

Anastasios Germanidis co-founded Runway and serves as its co-chief executive officer. The company operates in one of the fastest-growing areas of artificial intelligence: image and video generation and editing.Runway has developed tools used by content creators, advertising agencies and audiovisual production professionals. For example, an advertiser can create a short video showing a car driving along a fictional road without organising a physical shoot. The user can describe the scene in words or provide a photograph, and the system generates a corresponding video. The technology can also change a scene’s background, lighting or appearance.AI is therefore becoming an additional tool for filmmaking, advertising and digital content production.Runway is also developing systems designed to understand and simulate the physical world, with potential applications beyond video production, including robotics and digital simulations.According to Endeavor, Runway’s valuation exceeds $5 billion. Germanidis also featured on the Forbes AI 50 list for 2026.Arena: Putting Artificial Intelligence Models to the Test

Anastasios Angelopoulos co-founded Arena and serves as its chief executive officer. The platform has gained international recognition for evaluating and comparing AI systems. As companies continually introduce new models, Arena seeks to answer a central question: which systems perform best in practice?Users can submit the same question to two different AI systems without necessarily knowing their identities. They then compare the responses and select the one they consider better. Arena aggregates these assessments to help rank different models. The platform allows users seeking AI tools for writing, image generation or software development to compare the capabilities of available systems.Arena has become an important reference point for AI model comparisons and continues to expand into different application categories. In October 2026, the company secured $200 million in funding, bringing its valuation to $3.1 billion. Endeavor Catalyst also participated in the funding round.Resolve AI: An AI Engineer That Identifies and Fixes Technical Problems

Spyros Xanthos co-founded Resolve AI and serves as its chief executive officer. The company specialises in automating the operation of complex software systems.Resolve AI develops tools that help software engineers identify the causes of technical problems and restore applications and digital services more quickly. For example, an online shopping platform or payment application might suddenly experience technical failures. Engineers would normally need to examine multiple systems to identify the cause.

Resolve AI’s technology can automatically analyse technical data, identify potential causes and recommend corrective measures. Where authorised, it can also carry out recovery actions. The company aims to reduce service disruptions and save valuable engineering time.Resolve AI has attracted international investors, and its valuation exceeded $1 billion during a funding round in February 2026, according to Endeavor.Xanthos also brings previous entrepreneurial experience to the company. Splunk acquired Omnition, which he co-founded.Tunic Pay: Using AI to Help Banks Prevent Fraud

Niki Goulimis co-founded Tunic Pay and serves as its chief executive officer. She previously helped establish Nova Credit before moving into the financial technology sector.Founded in London in 2023, Tunic Pay uses artificial intelligence to combat a growing form of financial crime: scams that trick people into transferring money to fraudsters. For example, a customer might receive a message that appears to come from their bank and urges them to transfer money urgently to a specified account.Tunic Pay develops tools that banks can integrate into their services to assess suspicious transactions and examine information supplied by customers. These checks can identify potential warning signs before a payment goes through. The technology helps banks assess risk and warn customers, while leaving the final decision to the customer and the bank’s established procedures.Tunic Pay has developed solutions in partnership with banks, including Britain’s TSB, which offers a suspicious-transaction checking tool powered by the company’s technology.Endeavor and the Growing Global Footprint of Greek Entrepreneurship

These five companies illustrate how Greek entrepreneurs are increasingly contributing to the global economy. Rather than building businesses exclusively in Greece before expanding abroad, Greek founders are establishing companies directly in major international technology hubs, attracting substantial investment and developing products for global markets.Endeavor Greece supports a network of entrepreneurs and seeks to strengthen their ties with Greece through investment, partnerships and the transfer of expertise.Panos Karambinis, managing director of Endeavor Greece, highlighted the growing influence of the Greek diaspora in artificial intelligence and the importance of maintaining its connections with the country.

Speaking to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (AMNA) and journalist Alekos Lidorikis, Karambinis said: “The Greek diaspora is building artificial intelligence today at a pace that has astonished even us, who see what is happening up close across dozens of markets around the world.”He described the development as recognition of generations of Greeks who devoted themselves to science, noting that technological progress increasingly depends on advanced research, an area in which Greek scientists have distinguished themselves.“Most importantly, wherever they are, they connect their future with Greece. They want to make an impact here, and they are already giving back. At Endeavor, we will continue to act as a bridge between the two ecosystems so that this impact can grow even further,” Karambinis said.Through Endeavor Catalyst, the international organisation’s investment arm, Endeavor also invests in selected high-growth businesses.
Its new Endeavor Catalyst Fund V has raised more than $320 million, with Greek investors contributing over $70 million. Investors include Greece’s four systemic banks and business families from Greece and the Greek diaspora. For Greece, the challenge now extends beyond gaining international recognition for its scientists and entrepreneurs.
The country must also find ways to translate their success into benefits for the domestic economy.Attracting investment, creating jobs, transferring expertise and developing partnerships with Greek businesses and research institutions are among the key priorities. As artificial intelligence reshapes the global economy, Greece has an opportunity to turn its growing presence in international technology hubs into a stronger economic and technological footprint at home.
