Greek Robotics Firm Brings Robots Into the Workplace (VIDEO)
by Kosta Papadopoulos · Greek City TimesRobots are moving beyond laboratories and science fiction into warehouses, hotels, industrial facilities and rescue operations, as advances in robotics create new opportunities for businesses and society, according to Pavlos Tsiapos, founder and CEO of AVRION Robotics.
“Humanoid robots have left the studios and even the robotics laboratories and entered the present,” Tsiapos said. “They are here with us to add value to production and work alongside people.”
The company’s humanoid robot, Phoebus, demonstrates how the technology can interact with people, perform movements such as handshakes and hugs, dance, guide users and retrieve information.
“I am Phoebus, a humanoid robot from AVRION Robotics. I can talk to you, perform movements such as a handshake or a hug, dance, help you navigate or search for information,” the robot explains.

Robotic systems already operate across several sectors, including manufacturing and logistics, where they support warehouse operations and production lines and can work continuously.
AVRION Robotics develops a range of robotic solutions for industrial operations, security and environments where robots interact directly with people, Tsiapos said.
In hospitality, robots can assist with routine tasks, provide information and guide visitors, potentially improving customer service while allowing staff to focus on other responsibilities.
“We are currently preparing the first pilot hotel, which will operate almost autonomously using robotic solutions,” Tsiapos said.
Phoebus said businesses could use humanoid robots to welcome customers, conduct tours and answer questions.
Robots Could Improve Workplace Safety
Robotic technology also offers potential safety benefits in factories and other hazardous environments.
Tsiapos said robots could identify risks that human workers might not notice, helping businesses monitor dangerous areas and reduce exposure to workplace hazards.
These applications extend beyond humanoid robots to other robotic systems, including platforms designed for inspection and monitoring.
By deploying robots in hazardous settings, businesses could use technology to support workers and improve their ability to identify potential dangers.
Human Creativity Remains Irreplaceable, AVRION CEO Says
Despite the potential benefits, advances in robotics have raised concerns about misuse and the impact of automation on human work.
Tsiapos said such concerns were understandable given the scale of the technological changes underway. However, he argued that current robotic systems should primarily help people concentrate on tasks where they can contribute greater value.
“Robotic solutions are here to help people focus on where they can truly offer greater value and accomplish more,” he said. “Their creativity and spirit remain irreplaceable.”
His comments reflect a vision in which robots complement human capabilities rather than replace the qualities that distinguish people.
Chinese Robotics Exhibition Highlights Rapid Progress
Tsiapos recently visited a major robotics trade exhibition in China, where he observed the rapid development of humanoid robots and their physical capabilities.
“We saw robots taking their first steps in 2022 and 2023. In 2024 and 2025, we watched them dance, and this year we saw them surpass human records,” he said.
He stressed that the significance of these achievements lies not in robots jumping over obstacles or running 100-metre races for their own sake, but in what they demonstrate about the pace of technological progress.
The advances offer a glimpse of the capabilities that robotic systems could bring to practical applications, he said, adding that robots are now ready to address real-world needs.
Robotics is no longer simply a vision of the future. As companies explore applications in manufacturing, hospitality, security and other sectors, the technology is increasingly becoming part of everyday life.
