Nuremberg Airport suspended operations midday on 13 October 2026 after Corendon Airlines flight XR456 (Boeing 737-800, 9H-CXD) from Corfu transmitted squawk 7500. The pilot was briefly unreachable by radio. Eurofighter jets escorted the aircraft, which landed safely at 10:16 UTC.
Police sealed the site and checked the plane. They later issued an all-clear: no danger, passengers and crew unharmed. The airline attributed the code to a short radio system fault over Croatian airspace around 09:00 UTC and stated no actual emergency occurred. Operations resumed around 13:30 local time. Investigations continue into the technical cause.
An unrelated overnight report of a possible drone was not confirmed.
