Mysore Airport to celebrate Yatri Suvidha Diwas tomorrow
by InsideOut Consult · Star of MysoreMysuru: The Airports Authority of India (AAI), Mysore Airport, will celebrate ‘Yatri Suvidha Diwas’ tomorrow (June 15) with a series of passenger-centric programmes, cultural events and community outreach activities aimed at enhancing travel experience and promoting public engagement.
The main event will be held at the Airport terminal premises from 2 pm. Chamundeshwari MLA and Alternate Chairman of the Airport Advisory Committee G.T. Devegowda will inaugurate the celebrations. As part of the programme, arriving passengers will be accorded a traditional Mysuru welcome with tika, flowers, Mysore Shawl and Mysore Pak.
Handmade greeting cards, seed balls and tourism brochures will also be distributed. Traditional Mysuru’s tourism mascots ‘Ammu’ and ‘Gajju’ will interact with passengers, while retail and food outlets at the Airport will offer special discounts.
The celebrations will feature cultural performances showcasing Karnataka’s heritage, including Bharatanatyam, Dollu Kunita and Nadaswara recitals. School students will also present group dance performances. Quiz competitions and solo singing events have been planned to engage passengers at the terminal.
Fire-fighting equipment display
A firefighting equipment display and awareness programme will be organised for students and visitors. Free health check-up camps, including blood pressure, blood sugar and BMI screening, will be conducted with support from JSS Hospital, while Agarwal Eye Hospital will hold an eye screening camp.
As part of the event, Safai Karmacharis maintaining the Airport premises will be felicitated for their service. Women personnel associated with the Karnataka State Industrial Security Force (KSISF) and frontline airline operations will also be recognised.
In the run-up to Yatri Suvidha Diwas, Airport conducted several outreach programmes, including career guidance sessions for students, familiarisation visits to airport facilities and aviation-themed painting contests.
An eco-drive and herbal plantation programme was also organised recently in association with the District Forest Department and Government Ayurveda Medical College and Research Institute. A herbal garden was inaugurated at the Airport as part of the initiative.
Airport authorities said that the celebrations are aimed at recognising passengers’ trust while promoting service excellence, sustainability and community participation.
