ASVEL announced on its social media that it has signed a contract with the EuroLeague and will be part of this project in the coming years.
In their public statement, ASVEL highlighted two key steps under the leadership of Tony Parker – the continuation of cooperation with the EuroLeague and the introduction of new shareholders.
“LDLC ASVEL confirms its commitment to the EuroLeague and strengthens its shareholder base to accelerate its European ambitions. Under the leadership of its President Tony Parker and its Managing President Gaetan Muller, LDLC ASVEL announces today two key structural developments for its growth: the continuation of its commitment to the EuroLeague and the arrival of new strategic shareholders, thereby reaffirming its determination to establish itself durably among the major clubs of European basketball.”
“In this dynamic, LDLC ASVEL announces the entry of several new leading investors, consolidating its structure and supporting its ambitions:
• A Swiss HelvetX group, led by Maxime Gillot and Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly. This partnership aims to develop a centre of attractiveness around French-speaking Switzerland, particularly in Geneva, within a two-hour radius of Lyon, with a dual objective: to strengthen economic synergies and to deploy ambitious academic initiatives for the training of young talent.
• An international group, including Kader Remil, based in Dubai and recognized for his expertise in financial structuring in sport, and Kenny Jean-Marie, a specialist in the development of sports organizations, with a strong experience in strategy, marketing and governance in football and global sport.
• The ISC Group, bringing together Lucien Boyer, a pioneer in sports marketing and former head of Havas Sport, and Laurent Damiani, a recognised expert in sports rights and business development.
• Finally, the entry of Eric Rosenthal, former director of the Apicil group, completes this round of financing with solid expertise in the management and structuring of organizations.
A forward-looking vision
With this capital and strategic reinforcement, LDLC ASVEL is acquiring the necessary resources to accelerate its sporting, economic and international development. The club intends to consolidate its model, extend its influence beyond the French territory and play a key role in the future evolution of European basketball.
Our club thus confirms its trajectory: ambitious, structured and resolutely turned towards the future and new challenges on a continental scale.”
ASVEL finished last season at the bottom of the EuroLeague, and there was a big question mark over their participation in the next season. However, everything has now been resolved, and we will continue to see the team from Villeurbanne in the elite.
Considering that Tony Parker was among the European basketball icons who presented the NBA Europe plan in London back in September, this change of stance is a big vote of confidence in the EuroLeague.
