Newcastle United icon Alan Shearer outlines I'm A Celebrity stance after Ian Wright talks
by Jack Flintham · ChronicleLiveNewcastle United legend Alan Shearer has dismissed any possibility of him participating in I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here, but he has suggested one of his pundit friends could be a potential winner. The much-loved ITV series is due to return next week, with a new group of celebrities set to face the Australian wilderness in hopes of being crowned King or Queen of the Jungle.
Sporting greats such as David Haye, Mike Tindall, and Ian Wright have previously taken on the jungle challenge. This season's cast is rumoured to include Coleen Rooney, dancer Oti Mabuse, and boxing promoter Barry McGuigan among others, but former Premier League star Shearer has categorically stated he won't be joining them now or ever.
Speaking to Betfair, he said: "I'm a Celeb is due to start later this month and other than Wrighty, who we know has been in the jungle - and he's told me all about it and how he won't be going back in - there's only Micah Richards of my punditry colleagues I could see in there."
He added: "If it was between him or Martin Keown, it would have to be Micah Richards. He could be the King of the Jungle, and it would sure be entertaining seeing him in there."
Shearer firmly concluded: "I can't see myself going in there though, absolutely not! " This revelation may disappoint the show's hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, also known as Ant and Dec, who are both passionate United fans.
McPartlin was spotted in the crowd at St James' Park last weekend, celebrating as Eddie Howe's side clinched a 1-0 victory over Arsenal in the Premier League.
