Tesco shoppers have just days left to bag free cash to spend at Christmas

A top-up deadline is approaching for Tesco Clubcard Christmas Savers to secure up to £12 free

Tesco shoppers have just a few days remaining to take advantage of a chance to receive some extra money to spend over the festive season.

The store's Clubcard Christmas Savers scheme has a deadline coming - just before midnight on October 17 - so customers have until then to top up their account to help secure £12 free cash. The scheme allows shoppers to save up their Clubcard points throughout the year to use at Christmas time, as The Mirror reports.

But accounts also can be topped up with cash and then the supermarket will give shoppers a bonus on top of their savings in the form of Tesco vouchers. The deadline to top-up Clubcard Christmas Savers accounts is 11.59pm on October 17 - so there is not long left to opt in.

Bonuses are usually received in November statements. The smallest bonus is worth £1.50, when between £25 and £49.50 is saved, and the biggest is £12, which customers receive when they save between £200 and £360.

The bonus vouchers are valid for only three months and expire if not used. The larger top-up vouchers - the money you have added to your account - are valid for two years, so there is no rush to spend them at Christmas. Accounts can be topped up online on the Tesco website or through the Tesco app - but not in stores.

Bonus vouchers can be spent on the Tesco website, in store or on petrol but cannot be boosted with Clubcard partners. A Tesco spokesperson said: "Our Clubcard Christmas Savers scheme helps customers to save their Clubcard vouchers throughout the year so they can use them for their big Christmas shop.

"Customers can now top-up their Christmas Savers account online and manage their account through our website or app, making it easier than ever to earn bonus vouchers to spend at Tesco."

The company is also set to unveil a shake-up to its online shopping experience, adds The Mirror. This follows on from its shutting down of its non-food Tesco Direct section of its website six years ago to concentrate on core business then in June it launched the new Tesco Marketplace website, selling garden essentials, toys, home goods and kitchenware plus baby and pet products.

Now, it is expected to make its own-brand F&F clothing range available to buy online once again. Clothing brand Drapers reports that the F&F brand soon will be relaunched to coincide with the move. A Tesco spokesperson told the Mirror: “We’re always looking for ways to improve our online offer for customers and we’ll keep them posted if and when we have anything to share.”
