Carol Vorderman has announced she will be stepping down from her Sunday radio show on LBC, citing "burn out" from working seven days a week. The former Countdown star revealed that she had experienced a "health scare" two weeks ago which resulted in an overnight hospital stay.

In an Instagram post, Vorderman described feeling a "tightness in my chest and utter exhaustion", but after numerous scans and checks, it was confirmed that there were no underlying health issues. However, the broadcaster is taking this as a "warning sign to slow down slightly", and has decided to reduce her work commitments to weekdays only.

"I am very fed up about it, but I have made the decision that I can no longer do my Sunday show on LBC which is a very hard decision to come to but I couldn’t see anything else I could do," she said in the video. The 63 year old described her time on the radio show as "really lively and a total joy", but sees this as "one of those things".

She reassured fans that she would still be part of the LBC family occasionally, so they should "The good news is that I’ll still be part of the LBC family (they’re a good family) from time to time – so stand by for more details,". "I am very sad about it but I shall be continuing to make mischief – just not seven days a week in the future," she added.

TV personality Vanessa Feltz will take over the Sunday afternoon slot. LBC released a statement saying: "We completely understand Carol’s decision. ".

"Her health comes first and everyone here at LBC sends their best wishes."

"Carol’s show has been an essential Sunday listen and while we know many people will miss her, we look forward to having her back on LBC, from time to time, soon."

Vorderman joined LBC to head up her own show every Sunday from 4pm to 7pm starting in January. This move followed two months after the renowned TV presenter left her role at BBC radio, citing she was "not prepared to lose my voice" when the corporation put forth new social media guidelines.

Known for her vigorous criticism of the former government on social media and engaging in heated exchanges with Tory MPs on X, previously known as Twitter, Vorderman mentioned that because of these guideline violations, the decision was taken for her to step down from her Saturday morning slot on BBC Radio Wales.
