27 fan photos as Newcastle United held by Chelsea in 2-2 St James' Park draw
by Owen Younger · ChronicleLiveTake a look at 27 great fan photos as Newcastle United were held by Chelsea FC in a 2-2 draw at St James' Park. Toon fans were left frustrated after seeing their side give up a two goal lead in the early kick-off on Saturday afternoon.
The NUFC faithful couldn't have asked for a better start as Nick Woltemade made up for his Derby Day disaster by firing the hosts ahead, after good work from winger Jacob Murphy in the build-up. It was then the turn of Anthony Gordon with some great play, as he crossed it in for Woltemade to score his second, confirmed after a long VAR check.
However, a top quality free-kick from Reece James and a goal on the counter attack from Joao Pedro meant that NUFC had to settle for a point in the end. The fans were incensed with the score at 2-1, as many believed Newcastle should have had a penalty, a sentiment backed up by former Premier League referee Mike Dean.
The draw means that Newcastle United's mixed season in the league continues, putting them at 11th place ahead of the rest of this weekend's games. Next up for the Toon is a visit to Old Trafford as they take on Manchester United on Boxing Day, with an another away trip to Burnley closing out the year on Tuesday, December 30.
Continue below to see if you can spot yourself in the crowd of NUFC fans, who were as loud as ever in the city centre today.
