Mrs Hinch fans share common household item that 'removes condensation from windows'

Condensation on the windows is a common problem in winter and can be made worse by day-to-day activities such as cooking, showering and drying clothes indoors

Condensation on windows is a common wintertime headache in many homes, and it seems to worsen with everyday activities like cooking, showering, or laundry drying.

The additional moisture has nowhere to go, leading to those familiar water droplets.

But fans of Mrs Hinch have shared a wonderfully straightforward solution to banish condensation. On the 'Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips' Facebook group, one member sought advice: "Any tips on water/lots of condensation on the windows? Even with the damp pots/dehumidifier/windows open there's still a lot on all the windows."

They also mentioned their inability to leave the window open in their toddler's bedroom due to health concerns: "Can't leave my little one's window open, as she's only two and on and off ill already."

The most endorsed suggestion was unexpectedly resourceful: "Cat litter in pots or tied into socks or stockings on the windowsill will help with the condensation," suggested Eilise Black.

In support, Jennifer Smith commented: "Fill a long sock with cat litter and put it on the windowsill. Doesn't look good but absorbs quite a bit of moisture.", reports the Mirror.

For those looking to tackle the issue, cat litter is on offer at competitive prices. Sainsbury's has it listed for £2.30, while Pets at Home is retailing it at £5.99 and Asda at £4.50.

However, if cat litter isn't quite what you're after, other top tips for keeping condensation at bay include using washing-up liquid and a Karcher window vacuum. "Use a Karcher to suck up condensation, then leave windows open for 10 minutes or so. Should be fine after that," suggests Mrs Hinch enthusiast Gill Heron.

Joey Mclennan offers another practical suggestion: "Yes! It's simple. I saw this on Nancy Birtwhistle and it defo works. A dry cloth with a spot of washing up liquid wiped all over the windows and hey presto no condensation the next morning."

Joey added: "I put it on half the windows in my living room first day and the ones that were treated were clear and the others not. Hence I went ahead and did the others. No idea when I will have to reapply but all good for now. Simple."
