Marks and Spencer shoppers praise 'perfect' £35 jacket that looks like £490 designer version

The Thermowarmth Quilted Jacket comes in two colours and has been hailed as a 'gorgeous' wardrobe staple that 'can be dressed up or down'

Marks & Spencer shoppers have praised "the perfect jacket" that has been branded "just right" for all seasons of the changeable British weather.

The Thermowarmth Quilted Jacket is a versatile favourite that has earned hundreds of rave reviews thanks to its classic padded design that will keep you warm on chilly days without compromising on style. Priced at £35, the jacket is made with M&S 'Thermowarmth' insulation as well as water-repellent 'Stormwear' fabric to ensure you stay cosy and dry in any unexpected showers.

Available in black or beige in sizes six to 24, the jacket is finished off with a button fastening and two handy side pockets - and shoppers have been rushing to snap it up, with hundreds adding it to their basket over the past few days. And it's a great way to get a designer look for a budget-friendly price tag too, bearing a striking resemblance to the £490 Quilted Jacket by luxury brand Toteme.

One shopper said of the Thermowarmth Quilted Jacket: "Very comfortable to wear and extremely practical too! I chose the black one as it goes with most of my wardrobe. The jacket is shower-proof which is a bonus, and is smart enough to wear in the evenings. Very lightweight also."

Another reviewer praised: "Gorgeous little jacket, received lots of compliments. Can easily be dressed up or down. Fantastic value for money."

A third person raved: "Lovely lightweight jacket. Goes great with jeans and dresses. Keeps the chill off and a light drizzle of rain. Looks very smart."

And someone else wrote: "Jacket is stylish, lightweight and warm. Not for deepest winter but good for the in-between days and will last forever so will get good use in spring and autumn and even on cool summer days."

Others hailed it as "excellent quality", saying its lightweight design made it "ideal for travelling" as well as praising its look as "beautiful". Overall, the jacket earned an average rating of 4.6 out of five stars based on more than 300 reviews from shoppers, with nearly three in every four awarding it the full five stars.

However, a small number of reviewers said they found issues with the sizing, with a few saying the sleeves were "too long" while others complained that their usual size was "huge".

This isn't the only coat that has drawn comparisons to a designer look more than 10 times the price. There's also the Textured Detachable Scarf Wrap Coat, which comes in classic black with delicate white trims and a matching detachable scarf for various styling options. Priced at £75, the coat bears a strong resemblance to the Toteme Wool Blend Jacket, which has a strikingly similar design with contrasting trims and a detachable scarf - but has a price tag of £810 at the likes of Net-A-Porter and Selfridges.
