27 pictures of Newcastle United fans as Magpies end losing run by beating Brighton
by Iain Buist, Sam Volpe · ChronicleLiveAs Newcastle United beat Brighton and Hove Albion 3-1, these Toon fans were watching with baited breath. But, in the end, they saw Eddie Howe's men emerge triumphant and end a losing run that has threatened to turn the end of the season sour.
NUFC went 2-0 up thanks to goals from Will Osula and Dan Burn, only for a Jack Hinshelwood strike to inject some peril into proceedings. However, a late Harvey Barnes goal brought relief all around at St James' Park.
Three points for the Black and Whites puts them into 13th place - but a congested middle-of-the-table means they're still in with an outside shot of sixth place. Brentford - a side which also won today - occupy that position with six points more than the Magpies.
As for the fans though, more than 52,000 saw a first home win since early March. Were you one of them?
If you were at St James' Park, you might just be able to spot yourself in one of these incredible pictures taken by intrepid ChronicleLive photographer Iain Buist.
