Manchester United ‘could change everything’ – €180m would stun football

by · Sport Witness

Manchester United had interest Real Madrid’s Aurélien Tchouaméni even before missing out on Mateus Fernandes and Elliot Anderson.

The Premier League side are working on reshaping their midfield, after Casemiro’s exit. The need has only increased after Manuel Ugarte suffered a serious injury with Uruguay at the World Cup.

Manchester United have made advances to sign Atalanta’s Éderson and want to sign at least one more midfielder.

Tchouaméni is an option and last month, we relayed news the Red Devils have expressed a strong interest in him.

Two days ago, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that Michael Carrick’s side are coming to sign the 26-year-old. The Old Trafford club are willing to offer a lot of money to Real Madrid, who have set a €100m price.

Manchester United need irresistible offer

Journalist Miguel Serrano, relayed by Defensa Central, now insists the La Liga side have no intention of selling the France international.

Manchester United want to sign the former AS Monaco man, but Real Madrid won’t let him leave easily.

Serrano claims the English club ‘could change everything’ by making a big effort to sign Aurélien Tchouaméni.

“Real Madrid are not considering selling Tchouaméni,” he said.

“Real Madrid would only agree to sell Tchouaméni to Manchester United if they receive an offer of €180m, an exorbitant figure because they don’t want him to leave.”

Manchester United won’t offer €180m

Aurélien Tchouaméni

Aurélien Tchouaméni has two years left on his contract, and Transfermarkt value him at €70m.

The Premier League side paid €105m to Juventus to bring Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford in 2016. Their second highest purchase is €95m for Antony in 2022.

Out of Manchester United’s top 10 expensive signings, only three were after INEOS took control of the sporting aspect. They have walked away from signing Mateus Fernandes to avoid overpaying.

Taking these factors into account, it’s highly unlikely for the Red Devils to offer €180m for Tchouaméni. It’s possible a deal could be done for around €100m this summer, and Real Madrid are using their local media to try and hike the price.
