Manchester United ‘sprinting’ to complete signing – Optimism deal will be done
by Sean Lunt · Sport WitnessManchester United are ‘intent’ on signing Ederson from Atalanta this summer and are ‘sprinting’ to get a deal done.
Tuttomercatoweb report that Manchester United are moving for the 26-year-old Brazilian, although they’re yet to make a bid.
Manchester United optimism
According to the website, the ‘overall feeling’ is optimistic about the midfielder moving to the Premier League this summer.
Manchester United’s sudden move may be a result of Atletico Madrid, the first to make an offer back in January, have eased their grip on the player. They are now looking at other profiles, such as Joao Gomes at Wolves.
The feeling in Spain is that Ederson would prefer to compete at a different level. That’s despite having an agreement in place on personal terms.
Atalanta’s asking price is currently clear; they want €50m to sell the midfielder this summer. They’re determined to get such a ‘significant sum’ so they can reinvest and try to rebuild their midfield.
Either way, Ederson appears to be a key target for Manchester United in the coming weeks. They are set to lose Casemiro, and another Brazilian could be the ideal addition.
Manchester United interest growing
Reports have certainly indicated that they are stepping up their interest in the Atalanta midfielder.
Sport Witness covered one such report, on May 8th, stated that they were ready to break the €40m wall for the midfielder. That would mean there’s not a major gap between them and Atalanta in terms of asking price.
Manchester United were then given encouragement by Atalanta’s CEO. He insisted that they would listen to offers this summer should they arrive. Those offers are expected to arrive at some point this summer, though.
The growing feeling, at least in Italy, is that Manchester United are preparing their move. And Atletico stepping backwards, at least for now, has opened the door for them to get a deal over the line without any competition.
