“I’m proud” – Manager happy Manchester United want to sign his star fullback

Club Brugge manager Ivan Leko isn’t ruling out Joaquin Seys’ sale amid claims of Manchester United interest.

The Premier League side are in the market for a new left-back and Lewis Hall is their main target.

Manchester United could find it difficult to snatch Hall away from Newcastle United and are looking at other options.

Earlier this month, the Spanish media reported the Red Devils’ willingness to pay €16m [release clause] to sign Racing Santander’s Jorge Salinas. However, his preference is to continue in Spain where Atlético Madrid have made advances to sign him.

Manchester United target from Belgium

The UK press recently talked about Manchester United and other English clubs wanting to sign Joaquin Seys this summer. Meanwhile, Barcelona want his teammate, Nicolò Tresoldi.

Het Nieuwsblad focuses on the possibility of the 21-year-old moving to Old Trafford and shares their take.

The newspaper makes it clear it’s their own information. Neither Michael Carrick’s side nor the La Liga winners have contacted Club Brugge for Seys and Tresoldi respectively.

Club Brugge, for their part, have no intention of selling the duo in this window. This would make a potential approach challenging for Manchester United.

Manager on Manchester United and Barca links 

Ivan Leko says he’s happy with these links and is unaware of whether there’s genuine interest from Manchester United or Barcelona.

“In fact, I’m proud that my guys are being linked to those clubs,” he said.

“We chat about it every now and then. How much of those rumours is true? I don’t know. But we all have eyes in our heads: their potential is incredible. On the other hand, they remain consummate professionals and are happy here. The focus is entirely on OHL.”

Club Brugge are refusing to sell the duo, but the manager believes Joaquin Seys and Nicolò Tresoldi could leave this summer.

“If there’s a lot of money on the table, it’s obviously not easy to say no,” Leko explained.

“The board’s aim is still to build a team that’s even better than last season. The right time to leave will come. Tzolis has proved that. Let’s hope they’re all still here in September.”
