Christopher Vivell in close contact for Manchester United transfer – Pushing ahead with move

by · Sport Witness

Manchester United head of scouting Christopher Vivell is in close contact with Felix Nmecha’s agents regarding a move to Old Trafford this summer.

Sky Germany report that Manchester United are in contact with the Germany star and looking to beat increasing competition to his signature.

Manchester United keen

They explain that the 25-year-old is attracting interest from several top European clubs this summer. Manchester United are one of them, and they’re ‘pressing ahead’ with their efforts to sign him despite his long-term contract at Dortmund.

The midfielder is increasingly in the spotlight thanks to his impressive performances for Germany at the World Cup so far.

Manchester United are particularly keen. They are stepping up efforts to get ahead of the competition. Indeed, Christopher Vivell, the head of their scouting department, is in close contact with the 25-year-old’s entourage.

That might give United an advantage, which they could certainly use. The competition for Nmecha is fierce. Manchester City, Liverpool and Real Madrid are all keeping a close eye on his situation.

Manchester United need ‘very high offer’

Sport Witness covered a report this week explaining he’s particularly interesting to English sides thanks to his homegrown status.

Borussia Dortmund are not interested in a sale. The midfielder only extended his deal in March. That runs until 2030 and doesn’t include a release clause for this summer.

Lars Ricken, the club’s sporting director, has made their stance clear too. “Felix is essential to us,” he said at the end of May. A transfer would therefore only happen if a ‘very high offer’ were to be made. Sky don’t put a price on the midfielder, but it is likely to be above €100m.

Dortmund are in a strong negotiating position thanks to that long-term contract. They need convincing, perhaps with cold hard cash and a deal they simply can’t refuse. Whether Manchester United are willing to offer that remains to be seen.
