Andre Onana prepared to create big transfer problem for Manchester United

by · Sport Witness

Manchester United may have a problem to deal with next summer. Andre Onana doesn’t intend to stay in Türkiye for a third season.

The Cameroon goalkeeper is currently on loan at Trabzonspor, rejoining the Turkish club from Manchester United at the end of the summer.

It is his second straight loan deal with the Super Lig side, who he initially joined on loan in September 2025.

Transfer plans

The 30-year-old is no longer a part of Manchester United’s plans moving forwards. That has been made clear, with Senne Lammens the undisputed number one at Old Trafford moving forwards.

The problem is that his current deal at Manchester United expires in 2028. So, he is their player for at least another two years.

Africa Foot report that Trabzonspor are considering signing him on a permanent basis. They would like to keep him for the long term if that is possible. But the goalkeeper has thrown a spanner into that plan.

He ‘sees things differently’ from the Turkish club. A source ‘close to his family’ has told Africa Foot that he does not intend to play a third season in Türkiye.

Despite Trabzonspor’s growing status – aided by the arrival of Mohamed Salah this summer – his camp is not prioritising staying at the club. They do not consider Trabzonspor to be an option at the moment.

Next move?

Where he goes remains to be seen. A return to Manchester United would make little sense as. The door to being number one seems to be firmly shut.

Onana would prefer to move on and find a new project with a fresh challenge. But where that may be remains to be seen.

It is a potential problem for Manchester United to face in the coming months, though. One, perhaps, they had hoped they would not need to deal with when he went to Trabzonspor for a second year this summer.
