Leeds United fight Sunderland for South American – €20m+ needed, Fulham offer rejected

by · Sport Witness

Fulham have been linked with a move for Parma’s Mariano Troilo, who is now also of interest to Leeds United and Sunderland.

The centre-back had an impressive 2025/26 campaign with the Italian side. It was his first campaign outside of South America, as Parma shelled out €8m to sign him from Belgrano.

Troilo started the season slowly and took time to get to grips with Serie A. But he grew in stature in 2026, starting 17 league games. He impressed for Parma in their 1-0 win over AC Milan at the San Siro.

That is when Fulham’s interest first emerged in the defender. Sport Witness covered how the London club’s first offer was about to land on Parma’s table.

Now, interest from Leeds United and Sunderland has been pushed forward.

Parma’s price clear

ParmaLive report about the 23-year-old, noting that Fulham were willing to offer as much as €20m for him. This wasn’t enough for the Italian club, who sent a firm rejection.

This hasn’t stopped English interest. Leeds United are in the picture and Sunderland are also offering competition.

The outlet state no new offers have landed on Parma’s table. Carlos Cuesta’s side are in no rush to execute a sale. Troilo is viewed as the heart of the club’s project and the Spaniard has a lot of admiration for the Argentine.

This doesn’t mean he will definitely stay, though. Parma want over €20m from Leeds United, Sunderland or Fulham. If that is offered, talks will heat up.

Value can rise next season

Mariano Troilo

Parma have shown themselves to be a selling club and that reputation is only growing. Zion Suzuki and Mateo Pellegrino can leave this summer, with Giovanni Leoni having departed for Liverpool last year.

That is why this should be a significant opportunity for Leeds United and Sunderland.

There is every chance Troilo’s value increases in the next year. Therefore, now may good time to buy.
