€60m now not enough for Manchester United – Crystal Palace already turned away

Manchester United would need more than €60m to convince Monaco to sell Lamine Camara this summer.

That’s according to Monaco-Matin. The French newspaper reports that Monaco are completely uninterested in a sale after already rejecting a bid from Crystal Palace.

The newspaper reports that Lamine Camara recently appeared all smiles, enjoying pre-season alongside his teammates at St. George’s Park.

That’s despite interest from several Premier League clubs. The newspaper names Liverpool, Manchester United, Nottingham Forest and Chelsea as suitors. There has also been a €35m bid from Crystal Palace, which was rejected outright.

Indeed, Sport Witness covered a report last week that stated Crystal Palace’s bid had made Nottingham Forest make their own move. Manchester United, meanwhile, were patiently waiting to make their own effort.

Now Monaco-Matin report that the 22-year-old is reportedly open to the idea of a third year at the club. He is not looking to force a move.

Monaco, meanwhile, would need a ‘substantial offer’ to let the midfielder depart. According to the newspaper, even an offer of €60m would be ‘deemed insufficient’ by the Ligue 1 club.

Transfer success repeat

The belief is that Lamine Camara could end up following the path forged by Maghnes Akliouche.

He resisted transfer offers to remain at Monaco for a year before heading to Paris Saint-Germain this summer. Monaco would apply a similar strategy to Camara to further boost his market value.

Of course, it would be interesting to see how their resolve hold if Manchester United, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest or anyone else comes offering €60m for the midfielder. Such resolve can often waver once actual, serious bids are made.

For the time being, it appears neither Monaco nor Camara are looking to part ways. The midfielder certainly isn’t looking to force an exit, which is playing into the club’s plans nicely.
