by · Sport Witness

Inter Milan’s Francesco Pio Esposito has risen quickly in the last 12 months, with Arsenal and Newcastle United in the picture to sign him.

The striker spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Spezia. After doing well, he was part of Inter’s squad for the 2025 Club World Cup. He convinced enough to stay at the Nerazzurri, who saw him shine in the title winning 2025/26 campaign.

He scored ten times in all competitions, also racking up six assists. The Italian also appeared to be ahead of Marcus Thuram in the pecking order.

Sport Witness have previously covered English interest in the 20-year-old. That has returned, with Arsenal and Newcastle United keen.

However, Inter may not be too keen on executing his sale.

Discussions ongoing

Today’s TuttoSport – via FCInter1908, takes a deeper look at where the talent’s future can lie.

They note that Arsenal scouted Pio Esposito multiple times last season. Andrea Berta is particularly a big fan and is the driving force behind the Gunners’ interest.

Now, it is Newcastle United who are also keen. The newspaper are sure that this is linked to Anthony Gordon’s move to Barcelona. They are willing to use a big chunk of the money earned to bring Pio Esposito to the north of England.

Inter have found out and are in talks over a renewal. In fact, discussions with his agent are in full swing.

The talent is described as ‘untouchable’ and this message is likely to reach both suitors soon. Beppe Marotta has made this decision consciously and wants to ‘swat away’ interest.

Interest raising player value

Increasingly, it appears as though these leaks around Arsenal and Newcastle United are meant to raise Pio Esposito’s value. It will also help the striker demand a bigger wage and force Inter into paying up.

The two clubs could be interested but the deal will be very difficult. It will require a major financial investment. Besides, neither of Arsenal and Newcastle United need to spend a hefty amount to sign a striker.

Pio Esposito has also shown no sign of wanting to leave. He seems keen on becoming a key player for Inter, having come through their academy.
