Manchester United make it clear they’re now ‘ready to submit suitable offer’ – Ahead of the game
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessManchester United have Newcastle United‘s Sandro Tonali in their target list for the summer.
The midfielder’s future beyond this season remains uncertain and is already attracting interest from England and beyond. Manchester United belong to the former category.
For most of this season, the Italian media have regularly discussed the possibility of a move back to Serie A for the former AC Milan star. However, Newcastle United’s demands have been an issue for his suitors like Juventus.
Two months ago, Tonali’s agent Giuseppe Riso said a potential move could take place after the World Cup. Later that month, we relayed news his entourage’s working on finding a new club in the Premier League.
On April 27th, Sport Witness covered claims from Italy that Manchester United already made a move.
Manchester United ready to advance
The Newcastle United star turns 26 years of age today and TuttoMercatoWeb have a fresh report on his future. It’s worth noting that like others in Italy, TMW speak to Tonali’s agent regularly.
Juventus are chasing the Italy international and dream of securing his services. However, the fee needed to convince Eddie Howe’s side is ‘completely out of their budget’.
The Magpies are now 13th in the table, trailing seventh placed Brentford by six points and are likely to miss out on Europe.
Sandro Tonali is one of their prized assets and his side value him at €100m. In fact, it’s ‘pointless’ to start negotiations for below €80m in fixed fee.
Manchester United, for their part, have ‘already made it known that they are ready to submit a suitable offer’. It’s unclear whether the Old Trafford club informed his agent or Newcastle United, but the former is likelier.
Tonali earns €8m net per year plus bonuses, another factor that puts him beyond Juventus’ reach.
Manchester United prioritise improving midfield
The Red Devils have qualified for the Champions League and need a bigger squad next season.
Casemiro will leave Old Trafford after this season and Manuel Ugarte could also be on his way.
The duo’s situations, coupled with a return to Europe will force Manchester United bring in more reinforcements, especially in midfield. Tonali can be a quality addition while they are also looking at other targets.
