Newcastle United monitoring Aussie World Cup star – Agent’s England ties will help deal
by Kaustubh Pandey · Sport WitnessAlessandro Circati impressed for Australia against Turkey and is now attracting interest from Newcastle United.
The Parma centre-back has now played 14 times for the national team. He had the option of playing for the Italian national team, having featured for their youth sides regularly. His decision to play for Australia is now paying off.
For Parma, Circati played 31 times in the 2025/26 campaign. He became key to their survival and it came at a crucial point of his career. In the 2024/25 season, the 22-year-old suffered a serious knee injury that derailed his progress.
Now, things are well and truly back on track for the defender, who is a target for Newcastle United.
Agent ties can help deal
ParmaToday report Circati is a ‘hero of two worlds’. The two worlds are Italy and Australia, as he was key in the 2-0 win over Turkey.
This is leading to the centre-back attracting interest from multiple clubs. Newcastle United are one and they have been ‘closely monitoring’ his progress for some time.
It is believed Magpies’ interest is also ‘finding fertile ground’. This is because Circati’s agent Luca Bascherini (who works with super agent Federico Pastorello) has a very good relationship with clubs in the Premier League.
While Serie A clubs are also keeping an eye on Circati, Newcastle United’s interest is seen as a deserved reward for his performances.
Parma’s stance on his future doesn’t get a mention. Interestingly, this comes at a point when Zion Suzuki, Mateo Pellegrino and Mariano Troilo have also been linked with English clubs.
Parma can execute sale
The Italian club’s sale of Giovanni Leoni says a lot about how they want to operate in the market. They buy for cheap and sell for a big amount and that is what they want to do in Circati’s case.
A sale to Newcastle United, however, can depend on other Parma players. If they lose Troilo, they may not want to part ways with another centre-back. Losing Suzuki as well would mean they would lose two key members of a very reliable backline.
But if Circati keeps his performances going at the World Cup, he could be their most valuable asset in the squad. That can hand English clubs a big chance to sign him.
