Manchester United signing finally travelling to England – Medical booked ahead of official move

by · Sport Witness

Manchester United are finally set to welcome Cristian Camilo Orozco to England. This comes months after closing the deal for the Fortaleza CEIF midfielder.

As we covered at the time, the 17-year-old’s move to Old Trafford was agreed in September last year. However, he had to wait until now to take the next step. That’s because he could only formally join Manchester United once he turned 18.

The midfielder will celebrate his 18th birthday on July 13, clearing the way for United to formally register him as their player.

Journalist Pipe Sierra now reports Orozco will travel to Manchester this Sunday with Giuseppe Antonaccio, Manchester United’s chief scout.

The Colombian midfielder will undergo medical examinations and then be officially announced by the Premier League club.

Antonaccio was previously credited with leading the operation for Manchester United in South America. Now he will travel with the player to England as the deal enters its formal stage.

United already have immediate plan

According to Sierra, the midfielder will join Manchester United’s U21 squad for their pre-season camp in Germany.

That gives United an immediate look at him in their own environment. It also shows the club are placing him directly into their academy structure, rather than leaving his integration for later.

Orozco arrives as a long-term bet for Manchester United’s midfield. As we covered last year, he is dubbed as the ‘next Moisés Caicedo’. He is also believed to be already the ‘leader of a new generation’.

The fee was previously reported to be around €1m (£740k), a modest figure for a Premier League club if his development continues as hoped.

For Fortaleza CEIF, it is a significant deal involving a player they only signed last summer.

For Manchester United, the wait is almost over. The agreement was done months ago, and Orozco is now finally on his way to begin life with the Red Devils.
