Player agrees to join Newcastle United – Magpies expected to complete signing ‘very soon’

On Wednesday, we relayed news that Benfica would be open to a sale, provided Newcastle United offer €35m.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina international knows both Matthias Jaissle and his assistant, Florens Koch, from their time at Red Bull Salzburg. This is one of the reasons he’s keen on a move to St James’ Park.

Newcastle United taking firm stance
Matthias Jaissle’s side are ready to go up to €30m to sign the 23-year-old this summer.
Their plan is to make an initial offer of €25m and then raise it to €30m. Newcastle United ‘don’t want to pay a cent more’ than this. It’s short of Benfica’s minimum request of €35m for a player with a €50m release clause.
Despite the difference, there’s expectation the ‘transfer will be completed very soon’. That’s probably because Newcastle United want the player and Benfica are open to selling him.
SportSport states: ‘There will be no problems in the agreement, because the Portuguese giant are ready to sell the BiH footballer. Dedic should go to Newcastle United very soon.’
Newcastle United would represent a big challenge for the fullback, and it’s now down to the clubs to agree terms.
