Nintendo announced it will shut down the Mario Kart Tour mobile game available on Android and Apple iOS devices. It will be available to play until September 29, 2026. There’s no mention of an offline version in the announcement for the seven-year-old spin-off, which launched back in September 2019.

Mario Kart Tour was a more condensed version of the game that let someone on mobile devices in landscape or portrait mode and go through worldwide courses with touch or gyroscopic controls. It was also known for a gacha system for things like characters and a Gold Pass subscription for access to 200cc and other perks.

Speaking of which, Nintendo confirmed the end of real-money elements of Mario Kart Tour ahead of it being shut down. People can no longer buy Rubies, though they can use ones already in their account. It is also no longer possible to buy a Gold Pass or renew a subscription.

To help make things easier for people to play ahead of the end, Nintendo also announced everyone will get Gold Pass subscription benefits. This will start on August 4, 2026. That will be available until the end of service.

Mario Kart Tour is available on Android and Apple iOS mobile devices until September 29, 2026. The most recent mainline entry is Mario Kart World on the Switch 2.
