Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Switch 2 Upgrade Affects Torna Expansion
by Jenni Lada · SiliconeraWhile it didn’t come up during the June 2026 Nintendo Direct, the company confirmed Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna ~ The Golden Country DLC expansion is also getting the Switch 2 Upgrade Pack experience. The eShop product listing now includes an official “publisher notification” from Nintendo confirming it will be updated to support the new console. However, it seems it is only getting visual and performance upgrades and no additional content. It also seems the update could be free, depending on how someone owns that additional experience. It shows up on July 30, 2026, which is when it the base game update arrives.

Basically, the eShop listing seems to suggest the price is based on how you own it. If you got the expansion by owning the base game and picking up the $29.99 Expansion Pass, then you need to spend the $9.99 for the Upgrade Pack for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in order to get the Switch 2 edition update for both it and Torna ~ The Golden Country. However, Nintendo’s notice says if someone owns the $39.99 standalone digital or physical Torna game, that update will be free.

As for what the update does, it’s just making the game run better. In handheld and TV modes, the expansion will run at 60 fps. It’ll hit 1080p in handheld mode and 4K when docked. To compare, the base game is getting a new Blade, an ability to directly control Blades in fights, and new Mythra and Pyra equipment.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Torna ~ The Golden Country are available for the Switch now and will get a Switch 2 Upgrade Pack update on July 30, 2026. Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna ~ The Golden Country is available as an add-on or separately as a digital standalone game.
