New Japanese Disney Mobile Game Is Sparklink Stars

by · Siliconera

Disney and Coly announced a new mobile game for Japan called Disney Sparklink Stars. There’s no release date yet. However, the official website is live and it is possible to pre-register” for the Android and Apple iOS title by following the social network and YouTube accounts. A worldwide release isn’t confirmed yet, but the official site does feature some English text. There’s also a teaser trailer showing the logo and a piece of key art. It will follow games like Disney Twisted Wonderland.

The key art shows a young man standing on what appears to be water or ice. He’s in a white and blue suit and had blond hair. If compared to the Disney Twisted Wonderland characters, it almost seems like his could be inspired by Cinderella or Elsa from Frozen. His right hand is outstretched with a crystal hovering above it. It seems like he could be a Spark Rider.

The English text on the official Disney Sparklink Stars web offers additional hints as to what we can expect and the game’s setting. One note says, “Sparkle Islands – Luminoustair. A futuristic city where every spark of excitement in people’s hearts turns into a touch of magic. Here, the Spark Riders bring you sparkling stages filled with dreams and wishes.” Another description refers to it as “The stage where everyone’s dreams come true.” The bottom description confirms it is a free-to-play adventure game with training elements related to the Spark Rider characters. The site’s Character, World, Staff, and System sections are all unavailable as of time of writing.

It is possible this is a situation in which we could see the game show up later worldwide. That happened with Disney Twisted Wonderland, another title featuring bishonen characters. While the Disney game debuted on mobile devices in Japan in 2020, it didn’t show up worldwide in English until 2022. The manga and anime adaptations of that title also showed up worldwide too.

Disney Sparklink Stars will come to Android and iOS mobile devices in Japan, and pre-registration is open there now.
