You regularly run demanding 3D applications or other graphics-intensive software that benefits from dedicated graphics. While the integrated Radeon GPU is perfectly capable for productivity, media, and light creative tasks, users with heavier graphical needs will be better served by a laptop with a discrete graphics card.

Why we recommend it

The Zenbook 14 strikes an excellent balance between portability, premium design, and everyday capability. At under three pounds, it's easy to carry throughout the day, yet still includes a high-quality OLED display, strong processor, modern connectivity, facial recognition and a precision touchpad.

Asus has built a reputation for producing some of the best Windows ultraportables, making this a laptop that's likely to remain enjoyable for years to come.

Price context & historical value

Best Buy's discount puts the Zenbook 14 into a price bracket I normally see occupied by less capable laptops with IPS displays or older processors.

If you've been considering a premium Windows laptop before heading back to school, this is one of the better discounts we've seen on the AI-powered Zenbook range.

It has been sold on Best Buy for $833 in the past, but not recently, and it's usually priced a lot higher, so this is a good time to buy.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

While the Ryzen AI processor is impressively capable, this isn't a laptop designed for heavy 3D rendering or sustained graphics-intensive workloads.

The integrated Radeon graphics are fine for productivity, streaming, photo editing, and light creative work, but demanding applications will perform better on a system with a dedicated GPU. We've heard of users complaining of problems with heat and noise, but it's not a widespread issue.

There's also no option to upgrade the 16GB of LPDDR5X memory later, so it's worth considering whether that capacity will meet your needs over the laptop's lifespan.
