Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stone and inaugurate several key projects in Maharashtra worth over Rs 11,200 crore on September 29 via video conferencing. This announcement follows the cancellation of his planned visit to Pune due to intense heavy rains that impacted preparations for a scheduled event.

Among the notable projects set for inauguration is the Pune Metro section from District Court to Swargate, which represents the completion of the Pune Metro Rail Project (Phase-1). This underground section, costing approximately Rs 1,810 crore, is expected to significantly enhance urban transportation in Pune.

Additionally, Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Swargate-Katraj extension of the Pune Metro, which will be developed at a cost of around ₹2,955 crore. This extension spans approximately 5.46 kilometers and includes three underground stations: Market Yard, Padmavati, and Katraj.

The Prime Minister will also dedicate the Bidkin Industrial Area, covering 7,855 acres under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme. With an overall project cost exceeding ₹6,400 crore, this development aims to transform the Marathwada region into a vibrant economic hub.

Furthermore, Modi will inaugurate the revamped Solapur Airport, enhancing connectivity and accessibility for tourists, business travelers, and investors. The upgraded terminal is designed to accommodate around 410,000 passengers annually.

In a nod to social reform, Modi will also lay the foundation stone for a memorial at Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule's first girls' school at Bhidewada, honoring the contributions of this noted reformer.

The Prime Minister was initially scheduled to launch these projects in Pune, a crucial moment in the poll-bound state, but severe rainfall necessitated the cancellation of his visit. The virtual inauguration underscores the government's commitment to advancing infrastructure and economic development in Maharashtra despite weather challenges.
