Rosanna Davison opens up about Christmas plans and the parenting advice her parents gave her
by Aine Kenny · RSVP LiveRosanna Davison, ambassador for Human+Kind, has opened up about her Christmas plans for this year. The model has three children, twin sons Hugo and Oscar, as well as a daughter called Sofia with her husband Wes Quirke.
"We usually head over to my family home, my parents moved back to the home I grew up in last year. My two brothers live in London so they will come back and we will spend time together," she says.
"As a family we’re really close. Having kids brings a whole new element of fun, they will bring their toys over and will be high on sugar after eating chocolate for breakfast, we all will be [laughs]."

Rosanna is very close to her mum Diane and her father, singer Chris de Burgh. After Rosanna became a parent, they gave her some sage advice on how to raise children.
"Both of my parents always say there’s no manual on parenting, a lot of the time you have to figure it out as you go. My mum always says everything is a phase and a moment in time, and you’ll get past it.
"You need to really enjoy the good moments and get through the more difficult ones. You have to be receptive to what your own individual child needs and wants. Learning about emotional regulation for small children is important too," she tells RSVP magazine.
The best part about being a mum, for Rosanna, is the bond she has with her kids, as well as the love and affection they share. "Obviously there are challenges, it will always be difficult having babies, from sleeping, teething and weaning. There’s a lot of stressful moments and clean-ups, but the great moments make it all absolutely worth it.
"The first cuddles in the morning, the hugs after school, their little faces just light up when I collect them. It’s the, ‘I love you mummy’ and sharing the magic of learning about everyday life."
Rosanna adds that Christmas time is especially magical. "It’s like living your childhood again through them. That’s what’s so special about having children."
While the adjustment of becoming a parent can be huge, Rosanna has managed to navigate it. "You’re not only getting to know this new tiny child in your life, you also have to learn who you are as a parent. This time last year, I had three very intense years at home with the babies. I had gone back to work, but it was only doing what I could manage with the children’s schedules, I’d pack everything into naptime if I could.
"When Dancing With The Stars came along, it was the perfect opportunity for me to do something for myself outside of my role as a mother, to remember who I used to be... it gave me a new lease of life, which is what I was hoping for.
"I’ve kept that up this year, especially with the kids being in school. I have a balance between parenting and doing things for myself, like going to the gym, meeting up with a friend, or going for a walk with my mum."
