Ireland weather: Warning for 24 counties as Met Eireann says temperatures could drop to 1C
by Michelle Townsend · RSVP LiveA total of 24 counties will be impacted by thick and dense fog this morning as a weather warning has been place.
Met Eireann has issued a Status Yellow Fog warning for Connacht, Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Tipperary, Waterford, Cork, Limerick and Clare as widespread mist and fog will thicken and become dense in places.
The national forecaster lists poor visibility and hazardous travelling conditions as potential impacts, so if you live in any of these areas, take extra care on your morning commute.

The warning came into effect at midnight and expires at 10am (Tuesday November 12).
Elsewhere on the weather front, today will be a dry day with sunshine in some parts and clouds in others. Temperatures could drop to as low as 1 degree overnight in parts of the country.
A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Overnight mist and fog will gradually clear most areas on Tuesday. Dry overall with spells of sunshine developing, but staying cloudier further west, with fog lingering across parts of the midlands. Highest temperatures of 7 to 12 degrees in a light variable breeze, coolest inland where that fog will be more stubborn to clear.
"Tonight will be calm and foggy once again, especially across the south midlands. Dry, apart from the odd spot of drizzle. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees generally with perhaps a touch frost where skies remain clearer; less chilly across west and northwest counties with lows of 6 to 9 degrees."
Tomorrow (Wednesday November 13) will see another bout of dry weather, but there will be cloud, dampness, mist and drizzle too.
Met.ie says: "Wednesday will see overnight mist and fog clearing with mostly cloudy skies for the day - some sunny spells in parts. While there will be a good deal of dry weather, it will be damp in places with patches of mist and drizzle, especially affecting northwest areas. Highest temperatures 9 to 13 degrees in light variable mainly northwest breezes.
"Cloudy with patches of mist and drizzle [on Wednesday night]. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees in light northerly winds."
The current outlook for the rest of the week is that the weather will be "generally cloudy with patchy rain and drizzle. Possible wet and windy come Sunday."
