Strictly Come Dancing sensation Pete Wicks has teased fans about his relationship with I'm A Celeb's Maura Higgins.

In a heart-to-heart on the We Need To Talk podcast with Celebs Go Dating guru Paul Brunson, the ex-TOWIE heartthrob opened up about his long-standing connection with Maura, praising her as "super intelligent" and "incredibly witty".

He reflected on how their bond has grown over the six years they've known each other, noting that they now spend more time together. "It's different now, we spend more time together now than before and I think she's an incredible person, she was very supportive to me when I was in Strictly and vice versa when she was in the Jungle," he shared.

Yet, he carefully avoided confirming any romantic involvement, despite public speculation, saying: "Yeah, she's a great person, so my relationship with her is that I think she's a great person and I would hope that she thinks that I'm alright."

This comes just three months after Maura herself sat down with the podcaster to offer her own candid insights, reports Lancs Live.

Expressing her affection for the TV star, she remarked: "Our humour is the same. It's like that sick, dark humour. It's very abusive. We abuse each other. Very nasty, hilarious. We just get on very, very well. Very, very well. I adore him, he's amazing."

Rumours of romance between the pair have been swirling for some time after several suggestive hints emerged, such as Maura being photographed while wearing a T-shirt with the words 'We can't be friends', which belongs to Pete's close friend Sam Thompson. Both of them have also made appearances in TikTok videos together.

However, the confirmation of their relationship became apparent when they were captured sharing a kiss following the Pride of Britain Awards on October 21 last year.

Away from his rumoured romance with Maura Higgins, Pete made a name for himself after appearing in the hit ITV reality series The Only Way Is Essex from 2015 until 2021. During the show viewers were given an insight into his high profile relationship with co-star Megan McKenna.
