Amazon's stylish gadget 'works a treat' to protect vehicles from keyless theft

Misplacing your car keys has long been a common problem for hapless drivers - but now, you also need to stay alert to tech-savvy criminals who can make off with your vehicle without even needing your keys to gain entry.

That's right: anyone who is within a certain range of your car keys can hijack the radio signal which is sent out from all key fobs, and then use this to get into your car and drive away.

However, one surefire way to prevent this from happening is to securely store your keys inside a Faraday box, which blocks the signal emitted from your key fob so that it cannot be emulated.

And now, Amazon is offering this sleek leather Todoxi Faraday Box which can help the whole family keep their cars safe and secure, as it holds up to 12 keys, including house-door keys - so you never have to worry about misplacing your keys again.

As well as the black leather box, which measures 19cm in length by 12cm in depth by 9.5cm in height, shoppers also get two Faraday pouches that they can store their keys in while out and about, so they don't have to worry about their car being nicked from a public place or car park.

The Todoxi Faraday box and pouches bundle will set you back just £21.99 on Amazon for the large box, which holds up to 12 keys, while a smaller sized box is also available for £17.99, measuring 14cm in length by 11cm in depth by 7.5cm in height, and storing up to eight keys.

The Faraday key storage solutions have garnered an impressive 4.5-star rating out of five stars on Amazon, with over 3,800 reviews.

One satisfied customer wrote: "I had read about cars being stolen due to thieves amplifying the signal from the key fob and hacking it in some way. This product works a treat and completely blocks the signal. The box has plenty of space and is ideal for home use, and the pouches are handy when travelling.

"The only inconvenience is when you have keyless entry you have to take the fob out of the pouch, but for me that's a minor inconvenience which is far outweighed by the extra security offered."

Another added: "I love it, especially the two pouches that are included. I've tried it in the box and to open the door it doesn't work at all, try again outside the box and it works! Brilliant, and worth the value of money."

Meanwhile, a third penned: "Works exactly as it should. I use this for storing my keyless entry car keys in the house. It works 100% as I tested it by trying to open the car with the key next to it in the box and it would not let me. Great piece of extra security for keyless entry cars."

And a fourth commented: "The box is a great size, doesn’t take up to much space but houses a few sets of keys. The two additional wallets are great, clearly bulkier than just having the key but when the key is in the wallet the remote access doesn’t work. Really good product."

However, not everyone was as impressed with the product, as one buyer wrote: "I bought this as recommended by our Neighbourhood Watch due to the recent car thefts. The box is too small if you have two cars. The pouches are a bit useless as the key/fob in the pouch won't work obviously, and it's too cumbersome to remove everytime."

And another added that only the two pouches worked, writing: "Tested via my start/stop Ford. In the pouches it didn't find the key. In the box without the pouches it found the key and started."

Those seeking alternative security solutions for their car might consider Halfords' Anti-Theft Car Key Signal Blocker for just £6, which offers a single pouch solution. Or, Argos lists the Streetwize Car Key Signal Blocking Faraday Box at £20, although this purchase comes without the supplemental pouches.
