Amazon has unveiled its new battery-powered Ring Video Doorbell and is offering a big discount in an early Prime Day deal. The New Ring Battery Video Doorbell is reduced to £59.99, £40 off the usual £99.99.

Shoppers can also bag a bundle with a Ring Chime for £64.99, saving £24.99 compared to buying separately. The deals come as Amazon is gearing up for its latest site-wide sales event, Prime Big Deal Days, which will see prices slashed on thousands of items exclusively for Prime members on October 8-9.

The Ring Video Doorbell is equipped with a long-lasting, built-in battery, eliminating the need for wires. It allows you to keep an eye on your property and answer the door wherever you are from your smartphone and features HD Video with Colour Night Vision to give you peace of mind day or night.

You can also set Privacy Zones that block out areas of the view so you can be in complete control of what’s being recorded. There’s no need for complicated tools to get the video doorbell going as it boasts a DIY installation process that Amazon says takes less than five mins: simply charge it up and click into place.

When it needs recharging, the doorbell can be easily removed, charged, then clicked back onto the wall. The New Ring Battery Video Doorbell is currently the best-selling product in Amazon’s Door Bell Kits category, with more than 1,000 sold in the past month.

One buyer said of the device: “Very impressive. We have had a Ring Doorbell for over two years and decided to buy the new improved model. It’s great as you can see the person from head to toe, way better night vision than the previous model. Would I recommend yes I would.”

Another said: “Works great. Love that you can change the detection areas and the ringtone of the doorbell. The seasonal sounds are a nice touch as well. It’s also good that you can add which Alexas it makes announcements on. All in all a great product adding peace of mind when out, at work and on holiday.”

A third satisfied shopper said: “Replaced my doorbell button, so the battery is always charged from the chime. Love the peephole-like view which helps to monitor deliveries. Crisp speech recordings.”

However, some users have pointed out that the new Ring Video Doorbell does not include a removable battery, writing: “No more removable battery, you have to remove the entire unit to recharge it and not just swap a battery.”

Amazon also offers a Ring Solar Charger that connects to the doorbell with a USB-C charging cable for £49.99, eliminating the need to remove the device when it needs recharging. Elsewhere, Currys has also reduced a range of video doorbells, including £30.99 off the Eufy Slim Video Doorbell with Base Station at £89 and £28 off the Blink Video Doorbell with Sync Module for £41.99.
