Tiverton’s Advent heroes are making Christmas brighter
by Lewis Clarke · DevonLiveThis Advent, CHAT (Churches Housing Action Team) is calling on the local community to participate in its Reverse Advent Calendar, an inspiring initiative that turns the season of giving into a lifeline for those in need.
The campaign invites individuals, schools, and businesses to donate essential items daily throughout December, helping stock CHAT’s newly refitted community pantry—an upgrade made possible by the support of Tiverton-based engineering firm, HepcoMotion.
HepcoMotion recently donated £1,500 to CHAT, to support a significant refit of the pantry to create a brighter, more welcoming, and efficient space. The enhancements, including new shelving, refrigeration units, and better storage solutions, ensure that the pantry can meet the growing needs of families and individuals facing food insecurity in the local area.
Lucy Forster, HepcoMotion corporate sponsorship, commented: “HepcoMotion are delighted to support CHAT, not only with the new pantry refit but also during this crucial time with the Reverse Advent Calendar initiative. The updated pantry layout creates a welcoming environment and ensures CHAT can continue to provide essential support to those in need in our local community.”
CHAT’s pantry serves as a vital resource for people experiencing food insecurity, offering nutritious food options and basic necessities in a dignified setting. Thanks to HepcoMotion’s support, the improved facilities will enhance the experience for pantry users while accommodating the increased demand seen over the holiday period and beyond.
CHAT encourages everyone to join the Reverse Advent Calendar campaign by donating items such as canned goods, toiletries, or festive treats at designated collection points throughout Mid Devon. These contributions help ensure that no one in the community goes without during the festive season.
