Elderly man suffers 'life-changing injuries' after car crashes into tree

An elderly man was critically injured after a serious crash in Devon. Emergency services rushed out to the A379 Teignmouth Road in Torquay on Sunday afternoon (November 10) after a car left the road and crashed into a tree.

The road was closed from around 12.55pm while emergency services were at the scene. It was reported to police that a red Nissan Note collided with a tree.

A man in his 80s was taken to Derriford Hospital with life-changing injuries, Devon and Cornwall Police said.

An investigation took place at the scene and officers from the Roads Policing Team have thanked members of the public for the patience while the road was closed. Devon and Cornwall Police are now appealing for information from anyone who saw what happened.
