A Lesbian Version Of "Heated Rivalry" Is Officially Coming Out — And Yes, You Just Read That Right
by Jennifer McPhee · BuzzFeedIf you've spent any time online in the past month, it's probably not news that Heated Rivalry has taken the world by storm, and we (happily) refuse to shut up about it. As a proud Canadian, knowing it was filmed here by a Canadian team and distributed by a Canadian streaming platform has me kicking my feet with giddy pride. At this point, I'm so obsessed that I'd straight up vote to have Ilya and Shane on the next five-dollar bill, but I digress.
So when I heard that the same Canadian streaming platform, Crave, was developing another LGBTQ+ sports series titled Slo Pitch, I immediately went scouring the internet for answers. While we don't know much beyond the instantly iconic tagline — beer, lesbians, and baseball — we do know a few things. Let me break down it down so far.

First up, it's made by Canada's own Elliot Page through his production company, PAGEBOY Productions, and stars Heated Rivalry's Nadine Bhabha (Elena) alongside Schitt's Creek's Emily Hampshire (our beloved Stevie). So right off the bat (pun very much intended), it has the touch of some of our favourite Canadians. And that's just the start. The cast also includes Jess Salgueiro, Donald MacLean Jr., Chelsea Muirhead, Carolyn Taylor, and more.
Based on a web series, Slo Pitch will consist of 10 half-hour episodes and is filmed in the classic Office-style mockumentary format, following an underdog softball team as it chases beer-league glory. At the heart of it are the Brovaries, a losing softball team determined to move up in the league, led by a coach (Jess Salgueiro) navigating both championship dreams and the awkward fallout of being dumped by the team's co-founder, who is now competing against them.
So if you've been waiting for a sapphic sibling to Heated Rivalry from the same Canadian network, go ahead and mark your calendars for…sometime in 2026. There's no official release date yet, but keep an eye on their socials. This one could drop any day now, and we can't wait!
It will (obviously) be available in Canada on Crave, and while there's no confirmed U.S. streaming home yet, fans online are hopeful that HBO will scoop it up just as quickly as they did Heated Rivalry. We'll keep you posted.
And honestly, it's not just me that's hyped. Here's what fans are saying:
