Women Who Went To A Guys’ Apartment For The First Time Are Sharing The Most ’Nope’ Things They Saw

by · BuzzFeed

It's hard not to judge when you see someone's living space for the first time. While there are circumstances and context as to the varying states someone's home could be in, sometimes things can really stick out.

Well, im_justkendra recently asked r/AskReddit, "Girls, what’s the most 'nope' thing you’ve seen when you went over to a guys place for the first time?" So we thought we'd share some of the wildest responses.

1. "I once dated a guy for a few months before visiting his place."

"He was a very attractive guy, earning six figures in a professional job. He wore suits to work and on our dates. When I walked inside his house for the first time, it was a literal mess, with rubbish and debris littered all over the floor. My eyes were drawn to something on the floor near the bed... and it was a used tampon. Not my tampon. Not his tampon. How long had it been there? Who did it belong to? These are the questions. His house was gross, but that random tampon was the cherry on top for me."

3. "Bro carved my and his names into his wall."

4. "Bed with no sheets, no pillowcases on the pillows, and a very stained mattress. It smelled like dirty, greasy hair."

5. "He lived in his animal-hoarder mother's absolute hole of a basement."

"There was cat shit, vomit, and hair over every surface. Untrained, unneutered dogs were marking everything. There were partially decayed dead mice everywhere. He'd grown up with it and had given up a long time ago, since no one else was doing anything about it, and eight-plus free-roaming animals, plus more in enclosures, is a lot to try and battle back.

I only discovered all of that later. The first time I was there, I just asked if I could use the bathroom when I arrived to pick him up on the way to a show we were going to. He walked me inside like a man on his way to the electric chair. The ferret reek hit me like a brick wall, and I did a hard 180 and decided to hold it until we got where we were going. Really heartbreaking.

That was three years ago, and I have since extracted him and the cat that's his baby to my place, where they are both doing so much better."

6. "A guy brought me back to his place on our third or fourth date. He had a roommate. When I went to use their bathroom, I walked in and immediately stepped right into fresh human poo. Horrified, I cleaned my foot off and told my date what had happened. He just shrugged and said, ‘Oh yeah, that happens sometimes.’ Apparently, it was not uncommon for his roommate to miss the toilet."

7. "No bed. Slept on a yoga mat and used a bike tyre as a pillow."

8. "He told me he rented a room in a house, except the room ended up being the garage. And no, it wasn't converted. He asked if I wanted some airflow and grabbed the clicker..."

9. "In his car, the passenger-side floor was covered with bits of fingernail that he had bitten off and spat out."

12. "Completely empty. A couple of boxes in one corner. Nothing in the fridge. Not even condiments. I asked, ‘Did you just move in?’ He said, ‘Nah, I’ve been here for like three years.’ It really weirded me out."

13. "His ex-wife (that I didn't know about) throwing his clothes out of their shared house. That was fun."

15. "Counters and sink filled with dirty dishes. One pan was rusted up so badly that it broke when he tried to scrub it out so he could cook dinner for us."

BlackberryCrumble

16. "The gross stain in the corner of the shower where he pissed every single time he was in the shower and clearly never cleaned it."

Grouchy-Pie3289

17. "The fridge contained only energy drinks, ketchup, and one lonely pickle."

Scarlet_Godddess

18. "We'd been dating for about weeks, three to four dates in total."

"I went to his apartment for the first time, and he had an A4-size close-up photo of my face (no neck or shoulders, no body, just my face), framed and mounted on the wall right next to his five-year-old son's photo. I had gone over there that day to help him seal up some windows ahead of a pending storm. The photo freaked me out, but I held my composure, sealed the windows, gave him a peck on the cheek goodbye, and got out of there as fast as I could. I went home, waited a bit, and then sent him a 'this ain't gonna work, take that photo down' type of message."

19. "He had spilled milk on the floor earlier that day, and he had just put some paper towels over it, so it was rotting on the floor. His bedroom floor was covered in dirty laundry, including an old thong his ex had left behind. Then he said his mum would usually come over and clean, but she hadn’t been over in a few weeks.’"
