The look went viral with people asking, "actually why did chanel send her to the met gala in a regular blouse and jeans??!"

But there's a reason for this.

Sooo, Bhavitha was literally discovered randomly on the NYC subway. In an homage to her discovery, she opened the Chanel show in a subway station.

She's the first Indian model ever to open a Chanel show.

As you can see, that look she wore to open the Chanel show was based on her Met Gala look.

But those aren't actually jeans! According to Who What Wear, the "denim" is actually extremely fine silk. It's called a trompe l’oeil, and it has become somewhat of a Chanel signature lately. It’s basically a style where ordinary fabrics are recreated using extremely high-end materials.

So, yeah, that is ultra lux silk.

When asked about the look by British Vogue, she said, "I had to pause when I saw the sketch [of the look], because that subway show was already one of the most significant nights of my career. Turning it into something reimagined for the Met felt like carrying that memory forward, but in a more elevated way that still respects the original spirit and the theme of the evening."

She continued, "What I know is that the subway wasn’t a backdrop for my story, it was the story. And every time it comes back around, I’m reminded that ordinary moments hold everything. I wasn’t trying to be seen that morning. I was just existing. And somehow that was enough."
