Prince Harry tackled complex family matters, including his relationship with his father and estranged brother, in a candid GQ interview published Tuesday that drew attention for a possible swipe at Prince William.

The Duke of Sussex appeared on the series One More Question with Zach Baron in support of Harry’s recent MasterClass lesson about grief.

During the interview, Baron asks about the prince’s complicated relationship with King Charles and William. “Is that something that you grieve?” Baron asked.

“Yes, of course. I think from a family perspective, again: another massively relatable issue for so many people,” Harry shared.

“There’s sibling disagreements; there’s broken relationships between kids and their parents, kids and one parent. That continues to come up with me the whole time by people that I speak to,” he said.

“So I know how relatable it is. That’s probably why there’s so much fascination,” the Spare author added. “And then people maybe look at us and go, ‘How are you going to work it out?’ And then, maybe, how I see you’re going to work it out, maybe that will help me work my stuff out.”

“And some people don’t want it to work out. I want it to work out,” the prince said. “With everything else that’s going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile. That’s the key point.”

A spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex told HuffPost that the latter comment “was absolutely not intended as a swipe at his brother or any other member of his family.”

“The comment was made in a general context and was not directed at his family in any way,” the representative clarified.

“If there’s certain things from the past that are still affecting your everyday, that’s harder to let go of,” Harry added. “But yeah, for me, there’s enough drama in the world and enough drama in people’s lives than to continue with issues with family.”

Harry has previously addressed his relationships and told BBC last year that he “would love reconciliation with my family.”

“There’s no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious,” he said at the time.

While Harry and his father were not speaking at the time, relations between the two have grown warmer in recent months. The same cannot be said for William and Harry.

Harry and William’s relationship grew strained due to several factors, including the publication of the Duke of Sussex’s searing memoir and his and Meghan Markle’s numerous interviews about the royal family.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back as working members of the royal family in 2020 and subsequently moved to North America. After years of living full time in California, the royals recently relocated back across the pond.

Harry addressed the move while sitting down with GQ, explaining that the relocation included “opportunities for the family.”

“Being able to put the kids in a British school has meant a lot to me. I didn’t know how important it was to me,” he said, while later adding, “To be back closer to my family and to be back on UK soil for longer than a few days or a week here or there. It’s nice to be back.”
