Fire in Surrey closes stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge southbound

The stal̕əw̓asəm or Riverview Bridge is closed to southbound traffic Friday due to a fire on the Surrey end.

The BC Ministry of Transportation says both Royal Avenue and McBride Street in New Westminster are also closed.

“It is anticipated the roads and the bridge will be closed for several hours.”

Drivers can take the Port Mann Bridge or the Queensborough Bridge as detours.

The Surrey Fire Service confirms it is responding.
