Two properties in Chilliwack have been ordered to evacuate immediately due to the risk of a landslide.

The Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) issued the order shortly before 4 p.m., saying the properties are located on Chilliwack Lake Road.

“This Evacuation Order has been issued by the Fraser Valley Regional District due to immediate danger to life safety caused by landslide risk,” the FVRD said.

“You must leave the property immediately.”

The orders are in effect for 49269 and 49279 Chilliwack Lake Road.

Residents should close all windows and doors, close but not lock gates, and take critical items such as medicine and insurance policy documents with them.

Do not turn off any natural gas, as FortisBC will turn it off if necessary.

Evacuated residents should follow FVRD.ca/EOC for more information. As well, they can sign up to receive emergency alerts at FVRD.ca/alerts.
