The BC Prosecution Service confirmed Thursday to CityNews that Carter has been sentenced on both counts to concurrent lifetime jail sentences with parole eligibility after 17 years.

Carter was arrested in Ontario in 2022.
Carter’s initial trial resulted in a deadlocked jury which forced a retrial that began in October of 2025.
Carter was convicted in December of 2025.
