Dove Cameron is currently going over the moon as she starts a new phase of life. The singer has tied the knot with former Måneskin frontman Damiano David. The couple tied the knot on September 24, 2026, in an intimate ceremony at the historic town hall (Palazzo dei Priori/ Palazzo Comunale) in Montalcino, Italy. Notably, Dove was determined to tread the path of marriage once with another man as well.

Dove and her ex-fiancé, Ryan McCartan, once dreamed of building a life together, but their engagement ended soon after. Later, he accused her of cheating, around the same time he underwent a major health scare.

Dove Cameron and Ryan McCartan dated from 2013 to October 2016. Three years into their relationship, they got engaged in April 2016, but just six months later, the couple called off the engagement and parted ways, leaving netizens confused about the reason. Years later, Ryan addressed the buzz around their split during a Q&A session with his fans.

In January 2020, an online user asked him, "What's your proudest moment?" The particular question prompted Ryan to open up about his past relationship with Dove Cameron. He recalled some of the darkest moments of his life, when he felt like he wouldn't be able to get past them and move forward. However, he reportedly handled the situations well and was proud of himself for it.

Ryan McCartan accused his ex-fiancée of infidelity and shared that around the same time, he went through a life-threatening situation. He made the Infidelity allegations without naming Dove Cameron. However, since there were no reports of him getting engaged again after his breakup with her, the internet was convinced the allegations were against her.

Ryan shared that in just a span of two weeks, he almost lost his life to food poisoning and discovered his ex-fiancée had cheated on him. Yet he pushed through the physical and emotional pain; he "survived" and eventually went back to normalcy. Ryan McCartan added that he channeled his anger and sadness to positivity, and it was his "proudest" moment. His exact words were:

"Within two weeks, my fiancée cheated on [me] and left me. I almost died from food poisoning, and Donald Trump was elected president. I truly didn't think I would be able to make it through that part of my life. I'm proudest of the light that came from that darkness, and my ability to survive and turn the anger and sadness I had into positive life changes and a new way forward."

Dove Cameron seemingly responded to Ryan McCartan's cheating allegations

Dove Cameron seemingly responded to the infidelity accusations levied by her ex-fiancé, Ryan McCartan. She took to X (formerly Twitter) and retweeted a quote about a "toxic person." The cryptic note described someone trying to control another person and, upon realizing they no longer had a hold on them, trying to defame them.

The quote added that the toxic person spreads misinformation about the one he tried to control; however, the truth would come to light one day. Alongside the cryptic note, Dove Cameron wrote, "Beautiful," prompting fans to assume that her tweet was aimed at Ryan McCartan as he claimed that she cheated on him. The quote could be read as:

"When a toxic person can no longer control you, they will try to control how others see you. The misinformation will feel unfair, but stay above it, trusting that other people will eventually see the truth, just like you did."

When Dove and Ryan's relationship ended, both kept the reason under wraps, and it is unclear what led him to speak up after four years. At the time of their split in 2016, Ryan stated:

"Dove has decided this relationship isn't what she wants. We still love each other very much. Please be sensitive, as this is painful."
