US Senator Lindsey Graham’s death has left his sister, Darline Graham Nordone, heartbroken. Lindsey took his last breath on July 11, 2026, at the age of 71. Lindsey was US President Donald Trump’s ally and has now backed his sister, Darline, to serve as an interim replacement in the Senate after the US Senator’s demise.

Now that Darline Graham has officially filled her brother, Lindsey’s Senate seat, in an interview with FOX Carolina News, Lindsey’s close friend and his former communications director, Kevin Bishop, described the late US Senator and Darline’s bond. He shared that Lindsey loved and respected his sister, Darline, the most.

When Kevin was asked how he sees Darline being picked up to finish Lindsey’s term, he shared that he believes that Darline would do a great job for the people. He also added how Lindsey would have reacted to the news of his sister filling in his term. Kevin was quoted as saying:

"There’s no better person to fill his term than Darline. I know Lindsey is looking down from heaven and smiling. He is just so proud of Darline and so thankful to President Trump for allowing her to fill his term and serve. There was no person whom he loved more in this world and respected more than his sister. She would do a great job for the people."

Recently, Darline Graham briefly spoke in an interview with The New York Post. South Carolina Republican Gov. Henry McMaster announced at a press conference that Darline would serve until January 2027. Getting emotional, Darline said that it is a privilege to finish some of her brother, Lindsey’s important work.

Darline promised to work hard and carry forward the efforts of her brother on behalf of the citizens of South Carolina and the United States. Expressing her grief over Lindsey’s passing, Darline said:

"It is such a privilege to get to finish some of his important work, and I promise to work hard over the next several months to support the president and carry forward the efforts of my brother on behalf of the citizens of South Carolina and the United States. I think this is what Lindsey would have wanted, and I plan to honor him in this way. I miss you more than I can even put into words, but I’m gonna do this. I got it. Thank you."

When Darline was 11 and Lindsey was 20, their mother passed away. 15 months after their mom’s demise, the sister-brother duo’s father passed away. Later, when Lindsey was reportedly 22 and his sister, Darline, was 13, he adopted her so that his sister could receive his military benefits.

Back in May 2026, Lindsey took to his Instagram handle and shared an interview of Darline in which she spoke about their childhood days and more. Along with it, Lindsey shared an emotional note. In the note, the late US Senator recalled the promise he made to his sister after their parents’ death. He wrote:

"When I was young, my sister and I lost both of our parents far too soon. I promised her that no matter what, we would get through it together. It wasn’t easy, but I kept that promise. Today, I’m stronger because of what we endured, and I’m ready to fight for your family just like I fought for mine."
