Savannah Guthrie halted her entire life the moment she heard about her mother's disappearance earlier in February 2026. What seemed to be a lost episode turned out to be Nancy Guthrie's abduction for ulterior motives. It's been two months, and the investigations are still underway. Amidst it, Savannah put on her best outfit to be back on her NBC show, Today.

Savannah Guthrie returned to her Today show

Savannah has been through the worst phase of her life as she has prayed every day for the safe return of her mother. Today show co-anchor, Savannah's return on the show was no less than an emotional reunion on April 6, 2026. Savannah didn't shoot for the past 64 days after her mother was abducted from her home in Phoenix, Arizona. Savannah was dressed up in the brightest yellow-hued lacy dress with a round neck to hide away her blues. Addressing the viewers, Savannah welcomed them and expressed gratitude to them for being part of the show. Furthermore, she added how it was good to be back home. She said:

"Welcome to Today on this Monday morning. We are so glad you started your week with us, and it’s good to be home."

When her co-host, Craig Melvin, replied that it was good to see her back home, Savannah gave an emotional reply that shows her thoughts are with her mother, and she is still hoping to get the good news at any moment of time of Nancy's return. She said:

"Well, here we go, ready or not, let’s do the news."

The hosts then went straight to the news of the day. Despite her difficult situation, Savannah kept up the mood of the show high and even indulged in friendly banter on the show. She gave a shout-out to the Arizona Wildcats for making it to the Final Four. Later, Weatherman, Al Roker, also welcomed Savannah back to the show before starting his segment. And Savannah replied in the warmest tone.

It is worth mentioning that after Savannah Guthrie's 84-year-old mother, Nancy, went missing, she was unsure if she would be able to get back to reporting news. In an interview with Hoda Kotb that aired in March 2026, Savannah revealed that she doesn't know if she would be able to return to her work, which she has been part of since 2012. She added that she would like to try to continue her work. It is worth mentioning that on April 6, 2026, a large number of viewers marked their attendance outside the studio to welcome Savannah. The Monday broadcast showed a glimpse of viewers holding signs that they supported Savannah and welcomed her back on the show.

All About Savannah Guthrie's mother, Nancy Guthrie's kidnapping

Savannah's mother, Nancy, was last seen on January 31, 2026, as she had her dinner with her elder daughter and her husband. After which, she was reported missing as she wasn't present at her friend's house to watch a church service, which she never missed. After this, they called her daughter, Annie, and they found her not present at her home.

While the family has been dealing with the tough time, the internet was busy speculating about the kidnapper. From Savannah Guthrie's ex-husband to her sister and brother-in-law were under the internet's radar. It extended to a point that the Guthries shared in a cryptic way how the family is together in times of crisis. So far, cops have not yet arrested a suspect. But a lot of people were caught in the fire of the investigation, including a man who had sent a false ransom note to the family. A man was detained at a traffic stop, but he was released later.
