Anshula Kapoor Recreated Her Mom's Scent To Make Her A Part Of Her Wedding, 'Wrapped In Her Hugs..'

Anshula Kapoor is a happily married woman now, who recently tied the knot with her longtime beau, Rohan Thakkar on July 6, 2026. The wedding had many pre-wedding celebrations, which were followed by a grand reception, attended by the whose who of the glamour world. Amid the celebrations, Anshula missed her mom, Mona Shourie’s presence, but she made sure to carry her essence.

Anshula Kapoor recreated her mother’s scent

Recently, Anshula Kapoor took to her IG handle and posted a Reel, in which she revealed how she felt her mother around on her wedding day. Sharing a picture taken with her mom on her 4th birthday, Anshula revealed that she comes back to the picture and feels close to her. On the most important day of her life, Anshula wanted her mom, Mona to be around her.

To make it possible, she tried to recreate her mom’s fragrance. On her bachelorette trip to Seoul, Anshula, with the faintest trace of her mom’s perfume created a presence of her, which was vital for her on her wedding day. Just before walking the aisle as a bride, she sprayed it and felt her warmest hugs. Along with the video, Anshula penned an emotional note, which can be read as:

“On my bachelorette trip to Seoul, I tried to recreate what I remembered Maa smelled like. And on my wedding day, just before I walked out as a bride, I sprayed it on. For a moment, it felt like I was wrapped in one of her hugs again.”

Anshula wore her mom’s 42-year-old dupatta along with her bridal ensemble

For her wedding with Rohan, Anshula donned a rich coral-peach lehenga from the shelves of Tarun Tahiliani. Her bridal ensemble was a tribute to Indian crafts as her lehenga featured intricate Kashida embroidery layered with rich zari work. She also carried a bandhini gharchola dupatta as a nod to Rohan’s family.

The antique rose, blush and muted gold gharchola dupatta had delicate Phulkari borders as a tribute to her Punjabi roots. Taking to her IG handle, Anshula revealed her bridal look and mentioned that she carried her mom’s 42-year-old gold tissue & zardozi dupatta to complete her bridal ensemble. She made sure to keep her mom’s photograph on a chair right beside the wedding mandap.

Throughout the wedding festivities, Anshula made sure to keep her mom’s presence. During her Gor Dhana ceremony in 2025, Anshula weaved the most used words by her mom, which were 'Rab Rakha' in her ethereal bridal choli. Penning details of the same, she wrote on her IG handle:

“She always said, “Rab raakha.” So I’ve carried it with me into this new chapter - stitched gently on my back, tucked safely in my heart. A reminder that she’s still here, still watching, still my forever protector. My Maa.”

Boney Kapoor got married to Mona Shourie in 1983, and soon the couple welcomed two children, Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor. But later, Boney fell in love with Sridevi and left Mona to marry the actress. They later welcomed two daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor. After her divorce from Boney, Mona raised her children on her own. In March 2012, Mona passed away due to multiple organ failure after battling cancer.
