Security Operatives Arrest Four Suspected Bandits At Akure Airport
by George Oshogwe Ogbolu · Naija NewsSecurity operatives have arrested four suspected bandits around the Akure Airport in Ondo State, following a coordinated security operation involving aviation and local security agencies.
Naija News reports that the development was disclosed in a statement issued late Sunday by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.
According to FAAN, the suspects were first sighted behind the airport perimeter fence towards the Eleyewo community, prompting security operatives to launch an immediate search operation.
The agency said aviation and local security personnel quickly mobilised to secure the area.
“In response, security personnel comprising FAAN’s Aviation Security (AVSEC), the Nigerian Air Force, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force and other local security outfits immediately launched a joint search operation,” the statement said.
During the operation, some of the suspected bandits reportedly attempted to escape from the area.
However, four of them were successfully apprehended by the joint security team.
FAAN said the suspects have since been handed over to the police for further investigation.
“During the operation, some individuals were seen attempting to flee the area. Four suspects were eventually apprehended by the joint security team and have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force Area Command for further interrogation,” the statement added.
The airport authority commended the swift collaboration among various security agencies involved in the operation.
These included personnel from the Nigerian Air Force, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Amotekun Corps, alongside community vigilante groups.
FAAN noted that the coordinated effort among aviation security personnel, the military and local security outfits led to the successful arrest of the suspects.
