Talks underway on transfer of Russian digital meter reading and smart meter technologies for Myanmar

Myanmar and Russia have discussed the transfer of technology to facilitate the use of Russian-developed digital meter reading systems and smart meter systems, which enable consumers to pay their electricity bills, in Myanmar.

The discussions took place during a meeting between Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Ko Ko Lwin and Mr. Vladimir Parshin, Chief Executive Officer of Telematic Solution Co., Ltd. of the Russian Federation, at the EXPOFORUM Convention and Exhibition Centre in St. Petersburg on the evening of June 5. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 29th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which Vice President U Nyo Saw and the Union Minister are attending in the Russian Federation.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the transfer of technology for the deployment of Russia's digital meter reading and smart meter systems in Myanmar, as well as plans for integrating and upgrading the country's existing electricity metering infrastructure.
