Southwest Monsoon to Enter Myanmar in Mid-May
· Eleven Media Group Co., LtdThe southwest monsoon is expected to begin affecting southern Myanmar between May 13 and 18, gradually spreading across the country through early June.
It is forecast to reach the delta region from May 19–24, central areas from May 25–30, and northern regions between May 31 and June 5.
Two low-pressure systems may form over the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal, with one potentially intensifying into a depression. During this period, the monsoon is likely to be moderate in strength.
Most regions, including Yangon, Mandalay, Ayeyarwady, and Shan State, can expect regular rainfall with thunderstorms. Rainy days will range from about 11 to 22 days depending on the region.
Daytime temperatures will be slightly above average in central areas such as Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, and Mandalay, while other regions are expected to see near-average temperatures.
